My name is Monica Reifegerste from Maxim's Dogue Brasil Kennel, aka Maxim's 4 Great Danes.

We are located in Latin America, in the city of Florianópolis, on the island of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil.

We have been owning and breeding Great Danes since 2002, but only very few litters, just to keep our own pack and for selected people who are interested in acquiring one of our puppies on a co-ownership basis.

​This is due to the large number of dogs of this breed (and others as well) that end their days in abandonment, mistreatment, even in a rescue website for adoption, or dying prematurely due to lack of attention and necessary care.

We are very concerned about having the financial and logistical conditions to house everyone, including those who have been sold under co-ownership regime, but due to some misfortune of their owners or due to negligence need to return to us, even if they already became very old.

For this reason, we are so selective and diligent in breeding only very few litters, always seeking the highest quality in the selection of parents (stud /bitch) and trustworthy guardians /tutors.

We have a waiting list for those who are interested in one of our puppies. The priority among those enrolled is primarily the profile of the interested party. We need to make sure that the person who comes to us has some knowledge of the breed, has a rough idea of the maintenance costs, knows their needs, and also knows what to expect from a Great Dane, that is, if the profile of the interested party and their expectations are aligned with the profile of this breed and its fuction.

Much more than a guard dog, this breed's essentialy a companion dog. These dogs require a lot of presence and interaction with humans and other animals in their daily lives, in addition to requiring special care, such as a covered environment to shelter them from cold, rain, and excessive heat. They cannot and should not be exposed to these elements, much less housed in doghouses or confined to a kennel for more than 12 hours. 

If left continually alone and without human interaction, they can become vulnerable to psychosomatic illnesses associated with depression and low immunity, which can invariably lead to premature death. Great Danes are particularly emotionally sensitive to everyday social interactions, which can have both positive and negative impacts on their physical and mental health.

We highly advice that the interested party reads the official breed standard and does some research on the Great Dane before enrolling on our Reservation List.

This is important to avoid unpleasant surprises and troubles for both, the person who is interested and the dane that is being acquired.

Each breed has its own physical and behavioral features and peculiarities, each breed has a different purpose and utility, and what a buyer is looking for is not always compatible with the breed that sparks their interest.

​For this reason, it's essential to research everything about the various breeds and determine which one fully meets your expectations, motivations, and the purpose that led you to look for a puppy.

Owners who acquire one of our puppies receive free advice, guidance and assistance on the care and handling of their acquired Great Dane throughout their entire lifetime and can return it to us at any time, even if they are already very old.  📖 🐾

We breed, on average, one litter every seven years, so you need to register on a list of potential applicants, as the number of puppies is extremely limited.

However, when the list of applicants whose profiles meet our requirements reaches SEVEN or more, we breed a litter specifically to meet that demand, within our capabilities.
 
We focus on quality, not quantity. We are not a dog breeding business. Our primary goal is to preserve the breed's classic appearance (according to the oficcial standards) and their well-being, while also maintaining the legacy of our breeding by striving to improve it from generation to generation.

However, visitors are always welcome for knowledge, education and advice on the breed.

Our next litter will not be scheduled until 2029, and it will be most probably our last litter. 🏆 (James 4:13-15)

A Great Dane puppy costs between US$ 1,000 and US$ 5,000 or more, with the price depending on pedigree, color, sex, and lineage. Puppies from show-quality bloodlines can be at the higher end of the scale, in addition to transportation costs (national or international) to the final destination.

All of our dogs have a Canine Hip Dysplasia Report from the Brazilian College of Veterinary Radiology of the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Radiology - CBRV / ABRV.

We breed the third variety: Blacks, Merles and Harlequins.

This Variety manifests itself in the colors: BLACK, WHITE, and GRAY (MERLE) in the patterns shown above, each represented by a different suit.
